What a day!
Sun. Rain. Wind. Cakes.
Weather a bit better than last year, with some sunny spells at the beginning.

I got my first look at a sunspot for about two years (there haven't been many in recent months) and a nice solar prominence.

We had to keep lifting the scopes into the gazebo, then bringing them out again, but it was well worth it.

Iain was on fire with the recruitment clipboard - we signed up two families, three full members and two seniors. The bakesale raised valuable funds too.

Thanks are due to Bob Henderson, Brian Henderson, Kirsty Holmes, Iain Johnston, the Clan Ruzgar and Brian Wright for their efforts on the day.

Thanks also to:
Just Another Pete for loan of solar telescope.
Mrs Makin for tablet.
Melisa Ruzgar for biscuits.

Yes! Yes! Yes!
I would like to be associated with the comments of the previous speakers. A very BIG THANK YOU to all concerned, what an effort. Once again the weather contrived to ruin our day but we refused to let it. I think we really put the club on the map and what a pleasure it was to be part of it.

My first look at the sun in HA and what a great surprise! A sunspot (huge 5 times the mass of the earth!) and a looped solar prominence. What a great start to my Solar career Smile

To All those who didn't come I can only say that you missed a great event. Please try to help out at future events. remember this is YOUR club. You only get out what you put in.

regards
Cosmic
