Following on from Cosmic's great report. Here's my attempt at M57 with a 100 ed pro and a mono webcam.

Hi Andy
Thanks for your kind words and what an amazing shot. i must admit I was gobsmacked when I saw all those DSO's last night. for many of them was my first sighting. I could and would have loved to see more however my house blocks the view north so i had to content with a southerly view. I was able to see many overhead due to Autostar finally working!
I have a great webcam conversion from Astronomiser with a built in cooling fan and color ccd chip capable of long exposures so I can't wait to try it out. I have purchased a focal reducer so I just want to have a really clear night to try it out. The software I will be using is guide dog. have you come across this before?
Thanks for the info on jupiters ' moons, i thought it was too good to be true
Anyway love the pics do you have more on the net?
regards

I've heard of it but never used it. I actually thought it was a guide camera bit of software rather than image capture.
I used a similar style camera (an Atik) with a bit of software called K3CCD (www.pk3.org/Astro/). It's a download from the web - there's a small charge - and it's very easy to use.
I must confess I'm not a deep sky imager - I find it a bit too frustrating. But if its pics of the solar system, I'm your man!
