SATURDAY NIGHT OBSERVING 20TH SEPTTHIS WEEKEND WE ARE SUPPOSEDLY TO HAVE GOOD WEATHER AND AS OUR PERSEID NIGHT WAS A WASHOUT SATURDAY NIGHT WE COULD BE IN LUCK!
MEET AT THE KABIN AT 2200 HRS IF ITS CLEAR AND WE CAN GO TO A DARK SITE (SUGGESTIONS) WE CAN GET SOME OBSERVING DONE !
BINOCULARS , TELESCOPES ETC LETS GET THEM DUSTED DOWN AND PUT TO USE!!
IF THE WEATHER IS POORLY THEN DONT TURN UP BUT HOPEFULLY THAT WILL NOT BE THE CASE !

re ObservingI really enjoyed last night. The location wasn't too bad either and managed to see a few Messiers and double stars plus some good views of the mountain ranges on the moon when that finally popped up.
There were four of us who turned up for this impromptu Star Party and I hope it is followed by many more. sadly it clouded over again after 1.5 hours but it relieved the boredom of not seeing anything for months and let us use our scopes once more. I finally mangaed to get my right angled view finder fitted today after some modification so I look forward to not having to use that stupid red dot finder on ETX105 ever again.
Well done to John for organising this and for his determination not to let the damn weather spoil things again.
Looking forward to the next one...SOON I Hope

Yeah it was good last night , managed to see quite a bit but the clouds were against us !
More star parties are in the pipe line but sometimes its just good if the weather is clear to just head out !
Hoping the weather is more favourable next time.

Hi jholmes007, glad the evening was a success. I had some family and friends round watching the Ryder Cup and that didn't finish until late on so I couldn't make it.
Will come along to the next one and hopefully will have managed the alignment of my scope!
