would that make a good viewfinder for the 12" dob???
I don't know much about astronomy being a newbie but I always look to -Older- members for advice and guidance.

Hi Brian,
How much do you want for your 80mm refractors? As I'm looking for a guide scope and i think either one of your 800mm scopes would do the job.

Just back from London with my new scope 8" Meade LX90 UHC and set up in the observatory. Its looks great! Tried out the GPS on the Autostar works a treat. Got a lovely mead lens case with Eight eyepieces plus apo barlow and set of filters with adjustable polarizing filter and light pollution filter and a dew heater. Great bargain. Can't wait for clear night

Please Gentlemen do not contaminate this Apochromatic thread
with discussions on mirrored devices,as they are mere Pastiche

Now Brian
NOw then, you know that I'm a newbie and know absolutely nothing about Astronomy so humour me and explain whyit is that when NASA launches a space telescope they are all mirrored devices?
Seems to me if they are good enough for NASA they are good enough for me:) or am I being totally silly about this Cornish Pastiche?
I may one day buy one of these APO's for low importance stuff like transits of NIBIRU hehehehe

Now Geoff
Yes that is completely true that NASA do indeed use mirrors
for nearly all of their most important telescopes.
However this is where any resemblance ends.
The quality of the mirrors that they use are so far removed
from any that you or i have ever used, that i lack the
articulation to discribe.
They are really optically perfect, they take years to polish
and cost millions of $.
So yes i would be happy with a NASA spec mirror
